Authentic Italian Food and Deserts

Italy has its reputation through a lot of things, from sports cars and interior design, but for all that Italian cuisine has earned a nationally renowned. Of course, Italian national football team won the 2006 World Cup, but Italian cuisine continues to win the hearts of millions of people every day. It was observed that Italian cuisine is the most popular type of food when it comes to eating out. This is not just in Italy moderately the world at large is tending towards Italian food for diverse reasons.

The country initiating long, thin shape has a kitchen that is quite unlike anything that you will be able to find in the world. To the preponderance of the comparatively unaware public pizza and pasta happen to be the symbol of Italian cuisine. It is true that pizza in Naples is the largest consumer Italian food together with different types of pasta in the world, but the Italian cuisine goes much deeper than these two items. The cuisine of Italy is rich in foods and desserts. The amount of diversity that you will be able to find in the kitchen of the country is overwhelming. Not every region contributes only with its special foods and desserts instead have their ways of cooking the same as well. For this reason you will find many different regional varieties of pasta in Italy.

When you look at the history of the country, we see that for the greater part of it the country was divided into separate regional states. Moreover, many parts of the country were inhibited by foreigners like the French. In 1861 the county was united and the Italian cuisine we know today was first formalized. So we see that it contains a lot of foreign influences in terms of ingredients that are used and the way food is prepared.

The Toe on the map of Italy is the Calabria region. This region is famous for its delicious spicy salami. Naples is a city famous for introducing the world to pizza and mozzarella. The region is also famous for sfogliattele which is a popular dessert voice. These are basically filled Italian pastry. The areas of northern Italy, is credited with producing some of the most amazing food and dessert items that are part of the kitchen. The popular rice dish risotto originates from the Northern areas of Lombardy and Piedmont. Some of the other original elements of the area are the Parmesan cheese, tortellini, mortadella, lasagne, meat sauce and balsamic vinegar.

The thin crust pizzas have originated from Rome, where they used sheep offal, as the main ingredients. Sardinia is credited with feta cheese in which Sicily has a number of delicious seafood items to his credit. Gelato ice cream and granite is a delightful semi-frozen dessert from the area as well. Everybody identifies that Italian food is some of the very best in the world. Evidently, many people have never experienced the various regional dishes that are not as common as the traditional spaghetti or lasagna. If you are looking for something truly wonderful, try some of the other regional dishes that are native to Italy the next time you visit your favorite Italian restaurant.

Healthy Dessert Recipes - Raved About Pecan Pie!

Healthy desserts definitely do not need to be boring. Take this one. An amazingly delicious pecan pie recipe that has been in our family for decades. And super easy. Besides the Yum Factor, it happens to be a really healthy dessert too! (You may know that pecans are very high in all kinds of nutrition food values, so when included, they create very nutritious recipes. Plus - take a look at the flavorful sweetener we use).

You just can't go wrong with this pecan pie recipe, which is continually raved about whenever we make it. I can't even begin to tell you how many people over the years have said it's the best pecan pie they've had. So I just had to share this specialty which has been passed down from my grandma, so this recipe is definitely tried and true. And it's not just for the holidays (for some reason people associate pecan pie with Thanksgiving and Winter holidays, in the U.S. But make it any time! It's also perfect for the Fourth of July! Or parties and receptions. You can use either a regular pie crust, or the mini party-style pie shells.

It only takes about 15 minutes to put together.

You will need

1 to 1 1/2 cups pecan halves

1 deep pie shell, unbaked (or mini pie shells)

3 eggs

1/4 tsp salt

1 cup pure maple syrup

1/3 melted butter

2 teaspoons molasses

Beat the above ingredients thoroughly, until mixed well.

Then add in the pecan halves and stir well.

Preheat oven to 350 F degrees. Put the pie shell (in its pie pan) onto a cookie sheet as a protection, so the pie mixture will not dribble onto your oven rack and burn while baking. Then pour the above mixture into the pie shell. The mixture will be soupy and can spill. Carefully put into oven. Bake about 50 minutes or until a knife comes out clean.

This fantastic pecan pie recipe is pretty much a no-brainer. Like I said, it takes about 15 minutes to make, but then of course allow for the baking time. You'll sure to get compliments. So try it out!

Desserts in Puerto Rican Style

Desserts in Puerto Rico mostly comprise of a type of flan or egg custard. Just as usual in the Puerto Rican flag is a slice of guava jelly with white cheese (queso blanco). Chefs seize the abundant produce of fruits in Puerto Rico and make several desserts, which include banana flan, orange layer cake, guava mousse, and coconut flan. The tastiest dessert could be a freshly made fruit cocktail. Pumpkin grows abundantly in Puerto Rico so it is not just consumed as a side vegetable and used to spice up soup, but to create as well the luscious base of a popular cake in Puerto Rico. In the same way, sweet potato is both being consumed as a side vegetable and used to make a local sweet potato cake.

The most generally used ingredient in a Puerto Rican dessert is almost certainly coconut. A lot of scrumptious sweets are concocted with coconut milk or what they call leche de coco, such as coconut cake, coconut and rum flan, coconut rice and coconut ice cream. One more traditional product is boudin de pasas con coco or coco bread pudding.

Desserts Food

Jams and jellies are quite popular in Puerto Rico. Helping in a number of creations are both the sweet and sour guavas, including guava jelly, guava paste, guava pudding and guava shells in syrup. Papayas are also created as jams or desserts with cinnamon, vanilla extract and sugar. A mango dessert is prepared with almost identical ingredients. Mangoes could be an additive for mamey preserve or could be eaten uncooked.

Apples for Dessert

Apples are coming into season, as the weather gets colder. Most people enjoy apple pies, apple cider and many other delicious apple treats, but sometimes you just want to try something new. Maybe you are tired of the same old desserts. Since almost every cuisine works with apples in one way or another, it is easy to find a new dessert recipe for your apples.

Apple enchiladas are a delicious fruit dessert from Mexico. While most people are familiar with enchiladas in a savory way, sweet enchiladas are another great way to use this recipe in the form of dessert. Enchiladas have been enjoyed for generations. Since they are merely a wrap around a filling with a sauce poured on top, it was only a matter of time before someone turned them into a dessert. Sweet enchiladas usually use flour tortillas instead of corn tortillas. You can also top them off with a delicious Mexican chocolate sauce or a traditional dulce de leche sauce. The flavors blend together and make a delicious dessert. Of course, if you like sweet breakfasts, you could also use an apple enchilada as a delicious breakfast meal. It would not be that different than a waffle topped with fruit and whipped cream.

Desserts Food

You can make your own filling, as outlined in the recipe, or you can opt to use canned apple pie filling. Either way works fine. Top it all off with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream for a delightful ending to your evening. This is a versatile recipe that you can use with almost any fruit. Try it with pears, peaches, cherries, mangoes, or whatever you have on hand. While this may not be a completely authentic Mexican recipe, it certainly would be a welcome addition to any Mexican meal.

Spoon the fruit evenly into each tortilla and sprinkle them with additional cinnamon. Roll the tortillas and lay them seam side down in an 8x8 baking pan that has been lightly greased.

Let the butter melt in a saucepan and add the remaining white sugar, brown sugar, and 1/2 cup water. Bring this mixture to a boil, then lower the heat and let it simmer, stirring constantly, for 3 minutes, or until thickened. Stir in cinnamon and pour the sauce over the enchiladas.

Bake for 20 minutes.

Desserts in a Hurry - How to Make 15 Minute Desserts

It is possible to make desserts in fifteen minutes, which is good news if you suddenly have a craving for something sweet or if you have some last minute guests. One of the best ways to do this is to always make sure you have the right staples stocked in your pantry and refrigerator. You can make a basic dessert using a can of fruit and some whipped cream, a scoop of ice cream and a handful of cookies or a packet of instant pudding, some milk, and a pre-made pie crust.

Some instant pudding can be transformed into a pie or a layered dessert. Do not be afraid to add ingredients to dessert mixes and make them unique. A good dessert does not have to be made from scratch and you might be surprised to learn that not everything is made from scratch in restaurants, even top restaurants, because these days there are so many mixes and packets that we can use to help up.

That is not to say that we have to live on boxed food or packet mixtures but if you are in a rush, you can use something like that as a basis for your quick and easy dessert recipe.

Making Quick Yet Tasty Desserts

Fruit can be transformed into something special in as little as fifteen minutes with the addition of some ice cream, whipped cream, and ice cream syrup. Perhaps you have some marshmallows, raisins or chocolate chips lying around, in which case you can use those too.

There are so many desserts you can make on the fly. What about making homemade ice cream sandwiches by sandwiching vanilla ice cream and chocolate chips between store-bought cookies? You can buy pre-made crepes or tortillas if you do not want to make your own, and fill them with whipped cream and fresh fruit.

Take chances and combine different flavors to come up with exciting desserts. Experimenting is the best way to discover new dessert recipes. Remember that fruit trifle was only invented because somebody messed up a cake recipe. A culinary mistake can turn into something delicious and impressive which your family will like a lot.

Recipe for Lime Infused Mexican Strawberries

This delicious and easy dessert is perfect if you happen to enjoy Mexican dessert recipes. Feel free to substitute Grand Marnier or another orange liqueur for the Kahlua.

Also, you could use lemon juice instead of the lime juice. This is a light and refreshing dessert which is ideal if you are pressed for time or if you want something light and fruity rather than heavy.

You will need:

1 lb hulled, sliced fresh strawberries
1 teaspoon lime juice
1 tablespoon Kahlua (Mexican chocolate liqueur)
2 tablespoons white sugar

How to make it:

Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and let it stand for about ten minutes, or until the strawberries release their juice. Stir the dessert a couple of times during this time. Serve chilled, either alone or with whipped cream or a scoop of good quality vanilla ice cream on the side.

There are so many tasty Mexican dessert recipes and other recipes that you can make quickly if you are in a rush. A lot of Mexican recipes are based on fresh produce and simple flavors, making them perfect if you have last minute guests or a sudden craving for something sweet.

Soul Food - Top 3 Desserts Voted by Readers

Soul food desserts have a long reputation of having the smooth taste and satisfaction we all love. When you think of the true meaning of southern comfort, it's nothing like something smooth and sweet to top off a good meal (If you still have room, that is).

I've polled many of my readers on what their southern dessert is and I received many answers. Some of the answers predictable, others not so predictable and still others shocking, In fact, I didn't know you would call some of the votes or choices desserts, but I included them in the tally none- the -less.

Desserts Food

Eventually I did come up with the top 3 soul food dessert chosen by my readers. I gladly share it with you here. Keep in mind when I took this poll it was in the middle of July. So you'll understand why your favorite may have not made the cut. One dish that caused an upset and edged out a normal favorite was a cool choice, in honor of summer no doubt.

Here's the top 3 favorites voted by readers. If you're from the south or have southern roots you know your desserts. You may not agree with the order of these results, but there's no doubt you'll agree with there long reputation of good eating.

1. Banana Pudding. The surprise winner this time. Known for its smooth texture and rich creamy taste. This southern pudding favorite goes good when you're subjected to hot weather. It' a perfect cool-me-off treat after a satisfying meal. It's cool, tasty and light. Just what the eater ordered on a balmy summer evening. The positives of this meal topper? It's easy to make and you can find fresh bananas year round.

2. Peach Cobbler. This dessert, normally at the top of the list, especially in the cold winter months is still a favorite among soul food lovers, even in the hot summer months. Nothing says home cooking like a delightful peach cobbler. The daring always love to top it off in the summer with a nice dollop of ice cream, sherbet or whip topping, that gives it just the right touch. But to most this southern favorite needs no help. Just a shallow bowl and a spoon thank you!

3. Sweet Potato Pie. An all-time favorite that's hard to beat when it comes to finishing a meal - the right way. Always a year round favorite by most soul food lovers. It's unbeatable in the cool fall and cold winter months. The taste and texture seems to warm you inside-out and manages to massage your taste buds while doing it. I can see why this pie always makes a respectable appearance at the top of everyone's favorite soul food dessert list.

Filipino Recipes - Suman Moron (Dessert) Recipe - Pinoy Food

Suman Moron originated from Leyte, an island in the Visayas. It is a popular Filipino dessert served during fiestas and other special occasions. Luckily, I don't have to wait for any special celebrations to taste this delicacy because these are commonly sold outside the church during Sundays.

This recipe makes about 30 pieces of Suman Moron 4-inches long each.

Desserts Food

Ingredients:
2 cups glutinous rice flour 6 cups ordinary rice flour 2 kilos grated coconut meat 1 big can evaporated milk ½ kilo white (refined) granulated sugar 1 kilo muscovado sugar 30 chocolate tableya, melted with 1/4 cup water 1 bar cheddar cheese (julienned) 1 cup chopped peanuts 1 small bottle vanilla extract 8 cups boiling water about 30 pieces banana leaves, cut into rectangles (8″x10″)

Cooking Instructions:
In a basin, place the grated coconut meat and pour boiling water. Set aside. (Note: 8 cups of canned coconut milk can be used as alternative.) Mix the 2 types of flour well until thoroughly incorporated. Divide the flour mixture equally into two parts. Squeeze the grated meat when the coconut mixture is already cool enough to handle. Use a fine strainer to separate the coconut milk. Divide the coconut milk equally into two parts. In a thick-bottomed pan, place ½ of the flour mixture and pour in one part coconut milk, muscovado sugar, melted chocolate, vanilla extract and peanuts. Mix well and place over medium heat. Keep on stirring while cooking the mixture. At first, uneven lumps will form. But as you keep stirring, the mixture will even out as it thickens. Turn off the heat when oil starts to come out. Set aside to cool. To the second half of flour mixture, add the remaining coconut milk. Then pour about half of the white sugar and the evaporated milk. Mix thoroughly. Place in a separate pan and cook over medium heat while stirring continuously. Remove from the heat when the mixture is thickened. Set aside to cool. Pass the banana leaves over the heat to make them supple. Then use the squeezed-dry coconut meat over the leaves. Take a heaping tablespoonful of the first mixture (chocolate) and place on the banana leaf wrapper. Sprinkle a little cheese on it before rolling, with the banana leaf covering the mixture. Therefore, you hands won't be touching the mixture being rolled. Take another heaping tablespoonful of the second mixture (milk) and do the same process. Place the two cylinders (milk and chocolate) and roll to form a thicker cylinder with the two colors fused together. Roll the banana leaf to wrap tightly and tie a string at both ends to secure. Repeat the process until all of the two mixtures have been wrapped. Steam for about 45 minutes to 1 hour. Let cool before serving.

Quick And Easy Gluten-Free Holiday Homemade Desserts

Your holiday guests will be most welcome in your home, and you'll feel pleased to be their host - until you remember that their habits, preferences, and needs might not match your own. Then anxiety might overtake your excitement and undermine your confidence in your ability to host the perfect get-together. For example, mealtimes can be a challenge, particularly when so many people have eliminated specific foods from their diets (meat, refined sugar, salt, and the like). So plan in advance. Decide what you will prepare for dessert if one of your guests is on a gluten-free diet.

It's not as easy to satisfy the eater's sweet tooth as you might think even for the most experienced cooks. Gluten-free foods can be difficult to come by, and time-consuming to find or to make. Of course, if you're on a gluten-free diet, you've probably already searched for an easy fix when the urge for a quick, homemade single-serving snack hits. And you already know that "delicious," "gluten-free," and "homemade" typically are not words that fit into the same sentence.

Now imagine you can create a single serving of fresh-from-the-microwave-oven molasses pudding cake, a corn muffin, gingerbread, or pumpkin cheesecake. And imagine you can bake these gluten-free desserts in your microwave oven in a microwave-safe mug, and the only items you'll need to prepare them (besides the ingredients) are a small mixing bowl, a couple of measuring spoons, and a spoon to mix the batter. Imagine that each recipe works every time and that anyone - including a child (with adult supervision) - can easily and successfully prepare a gluten-free microwave mug cake in less than ten minutes.

Now envision each of your guests enjoying his or her choice of 101 microwave mug cakes, secure in the knowledge that each of the microwave mug cakes contain no gluten - and some of them contain no added sugar, no eggs, no dairy, and/or no added oil. And imagine that, instead of worrying about what to serve all of your guests for dessert, you have the solution on hand anytime you need it.

Your guests need not be on gluten free diets to appreciate the homemade treats. All of your holiday guests can enjoy delicious holiday treats almost as quickly as they can select a recipe.

You'll enjoy creating microwave mug cakes as much as your guests - whatever their dietary constraints - will appreciate eating them. Cleanup will be a breeze. The most difficult challenge you'll face will be waiting until your guests leave to prepare yourself a single-serving microwave mug cake as a reward for demonstrating respect and consideration for everyone's dietary needs -- and helping everyone feel cared about and nurtured this holiday season. You won't want to share your own gluten-free microwave mug cakes with anyone else when the opportunity to treat yourself to your favorite gluten-free microwave mug cake arises!

Mouth-Watering Thai Desserts

Thai cuisine is famous for its intriguing delicacy and spiciness. However, Thai desserts have been overlooked. The three Thai desserts famous outside of Thailand are mango with sticky rice, deep-fried bananas and coconut ice cream. There is a broad tradition of desserts in Thailand over the centuries which offers many ideas and choices.

Thai desserts have long been with the Thai people, certainly back to the Sukhothai period (1238-1350). Thais had long traded with China and India, which helped in exchanging cultures and traditions as well, including food. In the Ayuthaya period (1350-1767), Thais started trading with Western countries. The Portuguese were the first westerners to introduce the use of eggs and the oven. Thai desserts like Thong Yip (Pinched Gold), Thong Yod (Drop of Gold) and Foi Thong (Golden Threads) originate from Portugal, not Thailand as most people would guess, including Thais.

Desserts Food

Thai desserts are renowned for intricacy and elaborateness, their organization, and the punctilious and patient care with which they are created. Characteristic of Thai desserts is not only a range of sweetness, but also other elements such as a good fragrance, achieved starting delicately and exquisitely from the ingredient preparation to the final product. There are many methods to make Thai desserts, varying from steaming, baking, boiling, or deep frying, to complex processes like cooking egg yolks in syrup. The main ingredients for most Thai desserts include coconut milk, sugar, flour, eggs, salt, food coloring and fragrance.

To make high quality Thai desserts, fresh coconut is a must. Back in the old days, only fresh coconut was used in making Thai desserts. And at present, to make coconut milk, finely grated coconut meat is still steeped in warm water, not hot water. It is then squeezed until dry. The white fluid from the first press is called "Hua Ka Ti". Warm water is then added again to make the second and third pressed coconut milk, which is called "Hang Ka Ti." Finely grated coconut meat is generally used about 3 times and then discarded. Freshly pressed coconut milk has a better taste and aroma than commercial coconut milk in a can. However, with a fast pace of life, or the focus more on other elements of life, it becomes more common for a family to use commercial coconut milk.

Sugar is one of the main ingredients in Thai desserts. The two common sugars used in Thai desserts are Coconut Palm Sugar and Palm Sugar. Coconut palm sugar is made from coconut palm, whereas palm sugar is made from the sap of the sugar palm or palmyra palm, called Taan in Thai. Palm sugar is often used interchangeably with coconut palm sugar but they are different in many ways. For instance, palm sugar is dryer and more solid than coconut palm sugar. It is also more expensive than coconut palm sugar. In some dessert recipes, coconut palm sugar is often replaced with palm sugar. The replacement may lend the same general look to the dessert but the dessert will be different in taste and aroma.

Thai desserts are well known for their intriguing light tones. Generally the colors used to attract people are made from natural flowers or plants. The following are examples of the most common color sources used in Thai desserts:

Pandanus leaf (Bai Toey): giving a dark green color; Spathe of coconut or palmyra palm leaf (Kab Ma Prao or Bai Taan) : giving a black color; Turmeric (Kha Min): giving a yellow color; Flower of Chitoria Tematea Linn (Dok Un Chun): giving a blue color (adding lime juice will give a purple color); Flower of Aeginetia Pedunculata (Dok Din): giving a black color (but the flower is actually a dark purple color); Saffron (Yah Fa Rang): giving a yellow-orangish color; Roselle (Kra Jiab): giving a dark red (maroon-like) color; Lac (Krang): giving a red color;

Fragrance is another unique characteristic of Thai desserts. There are many ways of making good aromas with Thai desserts but the most common ones are using jasmine flowers (Dok Ma Li), rosa damascene (Dok Ku Laab Mon - roses family), cananga odorata flowers (Dok Kra Dang Nga) as well as fragrant incense candles (Tien Ob). Since the old days, Thais love using jasmine water in desserts because of its aroma. Thais would pick jasmine flowers around 6pm and gently rinse with water so that the flowers do not get bruised. The jasmine flowers (Dok Ma Li) are then soaked in water with a closed lid, and left until around 6am-7am the next morning. The resulting scented water is then used to make the dessert. Keeping the jasmine flowers for more than 12 hours will start to bruise the flowers and the water will not have a good aroma. Rosa damascene (Dok Ku Laab Mon) is used in a different way. Thais only use the pedals. Each pedal is torn into 2 or 3 pieces and then placed in a closed container that has a dessert in it for a certain period of time, usually overnight. For cananga odorata flowers (Dok Kra Dang Nga), Thais first burn them with a fragrant incense candle, and then place only the pedals in a closed container that holds the dessert. For some desserts, burning fragrant incense candles next to desserts in closed containers will be enough to give the desserts an intricate aroma.

What are the common desserts that Thais eat? Thais loves desserts (called Khanom in Thai). The well known dessert is Mango with Sticky Rice, but it is a seasonal dessert, around April to June. Deep-fried banana fritters (Gluay Tod in Thai) or bananas in coconut milk (Gluay Buat Chee) are also well known desserts in Thai restaurants in the U.S. In Thailand, there are all kinds of desserts, both non-seasonal and seasonal, from deep-fried to steamed. Some of the most common Thai desserts include the egg-yolk desserts; Thong Yip (Pinched Gold), Thong Yod (Drop of Gold) and Foi Thong (Golden Threads). Thong simply means Gold. The color of these three desserts is a yellow-like golden color from the egg yolk, and is used to signify prosperity and auspiciousness. These "three musketeers" desserts are often used in wedding ceremonies or commemoration of a new house as well.

Khanom Chan or layered dessert is another common dessert. The name of the dessert comes from the fact that it has 9 layers with color variations. The dessert uses only 2 colors: white and a light tone of a color like green or purple. White is used in every other layer. This dessert is also used in important ceremonies like weddings or the grand opening of a new business. Thais believe the number "nine" is an auspicious number which represents progress and advancement.

One of my favorite desserts is Luk Choob. Made from mung dal beans, this dessert is a collection of miniature replicas of fruits and vegetables. The fruits and vegetables are colorful and glossy, artistically carved, and styled with vegetable dyes and glazed in the gelatin-like agaragar. Bua Loy Benjarong is another interesting dessert. Bua Loy Benjarong is gluten balls in coconut milk, a dish that has been with Thailand for over 200 years. The little balls, the size of the tip of the pinky, are made from sticky rice flour mixed with natural colors. Benjarong refers to 5 natural colors: green (from pandanus leaf), purple (from taro and Chitoria Tematea Linn flower), yellow (from pumpkin), blue (from Chitoria Tematea Linn flower) and white (from jasmine water).

Additionally, tapioca and black beans in coconut milk (Sakoo Tao Dum), coconut custard in a hollowed pumpkin (Sangkhaya Fak Thong), grilled coconut cakes (Paeng Jee), mung dal beans and lotus seeds with coconut topping (Tao Suan Med Bua) are desserts, to name a few, that are common in Thailand.

Thai desserts have always been a part of Thai culture. They reflect caring, patience and an enjoyable way of life. Unfortunately, as time passes, some of the traditions and beliefs are being forgotten in Thai society, although most kinds of desserts still exist. Their tempting and satisfying tastes leave a lasting impression - which is in turn an integral part of why Thai desserts have not been lost with time.

A Nutrisystem Food Menu - Examples of What You Eat on This Diet

Some of the most frequent questions that I receive about nutrisystem have to do with the food selections. People want to know what food choices they have and if the food is decent enough that they aren't going to mind eating it five times per day. I have to say that, of all of the diets that I've been on, this one is one of the most generous in terms of food choices and in terms of allowing you to have comfort, snack, and dessert type foods that many diets would prohibit. And by and large, most of the choices are surprisingly decent. But, in order to give you an idea of the types and quality of foods available, I will list three sample nutrisystem menus below. The selections will be coming from the basic women's menu, but for the most part, many of the plans (men's, diabetic, vegetarian, etc.) share many of the same foods.

An Example Of A Nutrisystem Menu: Day Number One: The basics of this diet require for you to eat three meals plus a snack and dessert. They also ask that you add in fresh sides to the three main meals. On this first day, we'll have crispy rice cereal. It is a lot like rice crispies but contains more protein. Since we're supposed to add in fresh sides, I'll add half a banana. For lunch, let's chose a turkey dog. For your side, you could chose a vegetable (carrot sticks) or salad. For an afternoon snack, a good choice might be pretzel sticks. For dinner, let's go Italian and have lasagna. The plan's carrot cake might make a nice dessert.

Sample Menu Number Two: Since we had cereal yesterday, let's have the egg frittata today. We might add orange juice for our side. Fettuccine Alfredo might make a nice lunch with a side of tomatoes with Italian dressing. I really like the new "chocolate rainbow delights" for a snack because they are a lot like chocolate M&M's. I'm also pretty fond of the barbecue wrap for dinner. The sauce on this is both sweet with a kick of spice. The fudge brownie could round out the day for dessert.

Day Three On Nutrisystem: The cinnamon roll is one of my favorite nutrisystem breakfast foods. I'm still not sure how this item only has 160 calories with 7 grams of protein. It's a no brainer to add in milk as your side. The red beans, rice and sausage is also a good choice (since I like spicy foods.) For whatever reason, I like celery sticks with peanut butter on the side. For the afternoon snack, a chocolate crunch bar (a lot like nestle crunch) might be nice. (You can have this snack at anytime, but I've noticed that many have it in the afternoon.) For dinner, pizza is always a safe and good choice. A salad on the side is a pretty common choice. Almond biscotti might make a nice dessert.

So this was three days of meals just to give you an idea of what you're looking at, but there are over 150 food choices available and you can hand chose your menu to include only those foods that you like and want to include. So long as you're eating five choices per day and adding in sensible sides, you can switch the foods around and have the snack whenever you like. There is free counseling on the company's site in case you have any questions about the foods or menu.

Valentine Desserts: Delicious Desserts for Valentine's Day Dinners

Pick a simple but delectable Valentine Day dessert recipe to add the finishing touch to your Valentine dinner. Chocolate is a lovely gift for Valentine's Day, and it's good used to add a note of indulgence for your dessert. Another good choice is succulent fresh fruit, which is always so welcome in winter. Any pink or red fruit is ideal, such as strawberries, raspberries or rhubarb. Tropical fruits are also an excellent choice, and for the simplest dessert of all, you could simply serve a platter of sliced fruits such as juicy mango, halved passion fruits, fresh pineapple chunks and papaya wedges. Add some cubes of chocolate cake, and a scattering of shelled nuts, and you'll have an instant and delectable Valentine's Day dessert.

Here are more ideas for Valentine's Day desserts.

Make it pink
Early forced rhubarb is a lovely shade of fresh pink that looks so pretty in a mousse. Chop 450g (12 oz) fruit and simmer covered for 10 min in a pan with 50ml (4 tbsp) fresh orange juice, 1 cinnamon stick and 25g (5 tsp) caster sugar, until the rhubarb is tender. Remove the lid and cook for another 5 mins until most of the liquid has evaporated. Stir in 1 tbsp redcurrant jelly and leave to cool. Fold the fruit through 150ml (2/3 cup) 0% fat Greek yogurt, spoon into glasses and chill for 2 hr. This makes six individual portions, and keeps for 1-2 days refrigerated.

Just add chocolate
Prepare a plate of mixed fruit cut into bite-sized pieces. Put 200g (1 ½ cups) dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl and add 50g (1/4 cup) butter, 75ml (1/3 cup) water and 2 tbsp Malibu or brandy. Place over a pan of barely simmering water, so the base of the bowl is just above the surface of the water. Stir occasionally until melted, then stir until smooth. Serve with forks for spearing the fruit and dipping into the chocolate sauce.

Celebration sorbet
Put 600ml (2 ½ cups) apple and mango juice into a pan with the zest of a lemon and 75g caster sugar. Heat gently until the sugar has dissolved, then bring to the boil, simmer for 1 min, then pour into a bowl to cool. Strain into a container and place in the freezer for about 4 hours. Remove from freezer and whisk well to break up the ice crystals, then freeze until firm. Serve piled into glasses and decorated with mint leaves, with chocolate finger biscuits.

Heart-shaped delights
Any dessert can become a Valentine dessert, if you add a heart-shaped decoration. Many cookware shops sell heart-shaped moulds and cutters, which you can use to bake cakes and cookies for the day. Or make a heart-stencil, by cutting a heart out of sheet of thin card. Place the card with the heart-shaped hole on top of a cake or pile of pancakes, and dredge with icing sugar. Lift off stencil carefully.

Keep it healthy, by using low fat ingredients and choosing chocolate with a high proportion of cocoa solids, for these Valentine's desserts.

Chocolate Desserts

Chocolate is often the first thing that comes to mind when you think of desserts. After all, there are few things better than biting into a rich chocolate cake after a nice full dinner. But there's a common misconception among home cooks that chocolate is hard to work with. Actually, it's quite the opposite: it's one of the most versatile ingredients around, and it goes with virtually everything. Whether you like it rich and heavy or light and fruity, there's sure to be a chocolate recipe that suits your tastes.

One thing you can do is start with a simple recipe, such as chocolate cupcakes. Cupcakes are basically just miniature versions of cakes, so they're good for family dinners, brunches, and formal events alike. It also means you can recreate all your favorite recipes, from simple brownie cakes to rich black forest recipes. If you have time to spare, you can even decorate them to suit the occasion.

Desserts Food

It also helps to combine chocolate with other flavors to better bring out its taste. Fruits are a popular match with chocolate, especially tart-flavored ones like strawberries, oranges and cherries. Everyone has a favorite fruit, so it's easy to match your guests' preferences. If you don't have time to bake, simply melt some chocolate and cut up some fruits for a nice after-meal fondue.

You can also highlight the flavor of chocolate with contrasting flavors. One classic example is chocolate and vanilla. The basic contrast is the light, milky flavor of vanilla and the richer taste of chocolate. Together, they make a nice middle ground that appeals to pretty much everyone, kids and adults alike. Use this combination on cakes, ice cream, pies, or cupcakes for an interesting combination.

Another thing you should consider is whether your chocolate dessert goes well with the rest of the meal. If you've had a heavy meal, you may want to go with a lighter dessert such as chocolate biscuits. But if you have room for a big dessert, try indulging in a rich chocolate cake with ganache frosting. For parties, you can also make several small desserts so your guests can sample each one.

You cannot go wrong with serving a traditional pumpkin pie. This Thanksgiving dessert has been making families happy for a number of years, and is sure to be a favorite for your family and friends.

The best way to surprise your loved ones after the Thanksgiving meal is by putting a new twist on a traditional dessert. Serving a pumpkin cheesecake is a great way to do that. The spicy pumpkin flavor is a perfect complement to the rich cheesecake and sweet graham cracker crust. Serve your pumpkin cheesecake with a dollop of whipped cream, and your guests will be wowed!

Pumpkin Dessert Tips for Dieters

The average slice of pumpkin pie has about 320 calories. When you are trying to watch your waistline, you need to save every calorie you can. The best way to make your Thanksgiving pumpkin cheesecake healthier is to make a low-fat version. More Thanksgiving Pumpkin Dessert Ideas

If you want to be very traditional in your Thanksgiving feast, consider serving the pumpkin dish the Pilgrims likely ate at the first Thanksgiving. While it may not be the pumpkin dessert your loved ones expected, they will enjoy trying a little taste of history as well as Thanksgiving dessert ideas they never considered.

Thanksgiving is a time for family and friends - and of course great food! Make your dessert the centerpiece this year with great pumpkin dessert ideas. How To Make A Depression Christmas Bread Pudding Dessert Recipe

Many years ago, and then not so long ago, the economy sort of bottomed out for many people in the United States. When the economy was really low, the country and its people were going through a depression. Back in the depression, many people went without even the most basic of their needs. Some did not have grand luxuries. Many of them were thrilled just to have a nice warm bed to sleep in and food in their bellies.

Making the Most of the Ingredients in Recipes

Since there was never really enough money to go around, people would stretch the amount of food they had to feed even more whenever possible and for many families it was necessary. Actually, some of the best foods we may eat today may have begun as a simple recipe with very few ingredients.

Create an Old Fashion Christmas with the Recipes You Prepare

If you are roughing it or you want to create the flavors, aromas, tastes and feeling of nostalgia at Christmastime, you can make this depression Christmas bread pudding dessert recipe for you and your family. It is also a great choice for taking to pot luck dinners and other social gatherings.

Way back then, it may have been essential to feeding a family of 5 or more to make the most of 3 slices of bread that would not feed them all. Stretching the bread by making it into a pudding dessert was ingenious of those who had no other choice but to enjoy a depression Christmas. It is the perfect choice when you want an old fashion type of comfort food. It is delicious and will go over well during the holiday.

Recipe for Depression Christmas Bread Pudding Dessert

What You Need

2 eggs
½ cup sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
1 2/3 cups evaporated milk
1 cup boiling water
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon nutmeg

How to Make It

Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

Begin by breaking the bread into small pieces and then place them in the bottom of a 1 quart oven safe dish and then set aside until needed.

Using a medium size mixing bowl and an electric mixer beat the eggs and then stir in the sugar and salt. Mix well and then gradually stir in the evaporated milk. Keep beating, while gradually adding the boiling water and then mix in the vanilla. Beat well until thoroughly mixed.

Pour this batter over the bread pieces evenly and then sprinkle nutmeg on top. Place dish in preheated oven to bake for about 60 minutes or until you can insert a knife and have it come out clean.

You can serve this humble dish that was popular when times were hard just as it is, or you may want to add whipped topping or even vanilla ice cream before serving.

Traditional Ethnic Asian Desserts - Malay Kuih

My Singaporean friend who now lives in California constantly talks about food back home, and home is Singapore. She loves her foods, and having lived there for more than five years, she discovers there are few precious foods which cannot be found anywhere in California or elsewhere in US.

One of the things she misses and hopes many Americans will discover is this exotic traditional sweet and savoury dessert group called Malay Kuih. Originating from Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore, Malay kuih recipes were exported from the deep villages and brought to life and popularized now in big cities and hotels and restaurants.

Desserts Food

Yet the art of making these kuihs is still elusive to many people, that goes for Asians as well. These gooey and delicious desserts are still not known to people in the US or Europe and it is such a pity such glorious foods are hidden from a population who loves desserts.

Most of us in Southeast Asia are familiar with western cakes, puddings and brownies and we often have a wide selection of desserts of east/west to choose from to satisfy our sweet tooth. If only our desserts are known in the west, more people will learn to make them and impress their family and friends. This also makes for a great and new potluck idea.

It is totally different from the western desserts and yet achieves similar gratification. The creative use of colours and fragrance from banana or pandan leaves make these kuihs distinctive and will stand out in a buffet crowd.

Unlike western desserts which use basic ingredients like butter, eggs, plain flour and castor sugar, the Malay kuihs use basic ingredients like flour made from tapioca, green beans, yam, sago and palm sugar and coconut milk. These are mostly steamed, sometimes wrapped in banana leaf. Steaming is not the only way to do it these days, as these kuihs emerge from the deep villages, new recipes have been created and baked instead of steamed.

Furthermore, western desserts are mostly sweet whilst these kuih recipes include savouries as well. This can be created from using tapioca flour and coconut milk and then topped with minced meat which has been sauted with spices and garnished with fried onions. These savouries are still called kuihs and yet many Asian eat them for breakfast or light lunch or for high teas. Basically there are no rules when it comes to eating traditional Malay kuihs.

These ingredients and method of baking were a result of circumstances where modern amenities were not available to them. So they resourcefully used materials like yam, tapioca or beans and made into flour. Steaming was done on stove using charcoals. Coconut milk was used to achieve rich and gooey results, just like westerners use butter or cheese. It is quite amazing what palm sugar can achieve in terms of taste and colour. And yet the result is equally comforting if not more.

There are more than 100 kuih recipes that are basically made from all these basic ingredients. Through creative use of colours and different combination of flours and use of coconut, these traditional Malay kuihs have certainly left some hearts broken when they leave home.

They get more excited when it comes to cookies, cakes and fudges. They become so addicted to these sweet items that they become keener to have them all the time.

Children generally love fun foods and they take pride in participating in preparing the foods. So why not take a dish in which your kids can provide a help to you while making the food.

In the following write up, I have described a very simple and easy going dessert recipe in which you can involve your kids too. The recipe name is Apple Cranberry Cobbler, that is not only delicious but healthy too. Serve this dish to your kids and see how their faces glow with joy.

Tempting Desserts You Can Make With Tortillas

Tortillas are often used in Mexican food recipes and in fact they are a real staple - perhaps one of the most popular Mexican ingredients of all, so it is little wonder that they can also be used in dessert recipes. If you enjoy savory Mexican recipes like enchiladas, quesadillas and fajitas made with tortillas, why not sample a sweet tortilla recipe?

For a quick and easy Mexican dessert recipe, simply warm some tortillas on a griddle or in a pan. This makes them pliable. Add some chopped fruit to the tortillas and roll them up into tubes to serve. Other nice ingredients to add to sweet tortillas include honey, cream, nuts, raisins, lemon juice, lime juice, ice cream, chocolate syrup, or powdered sugar.

Desserts Food

You might like to warm the fruit filling or serve it cold. Drizzle your favorite ice cream syrup over the fruit tortillas before serving them and choose from ice cream or whipped cream to serve with them.

You do not have to roll the tortillas up to enclose a filling. Perhaps you would prefer a tortilla base, so you can stack your chosen ice cream, fruit, and nuts on top of the tortilla, or you might like to cut it into strips and use the strips to garnish a dessert. Be creative and see what delicious ideas you can come up with.

Recipe for Pear Chimichangas

This recipe combines the flavors of pears, lime juice, almonds, sugar and more to make a really delicious and authentic flavored Mexican dessert recipe. You can use mango instead of the pears if you prefer. Chimichangas are deep fried, so the tortillas will be crispy and crunchy, while the pear filling will be hot and flavorful.

What you will need:

2 teaspoons butter Juice from 2 limes 2 tablespoons sugar 2 tablespoons orange liqueur 8 ripe pears, peeled and diced Powdered sugar Vegetable oil, for deep frying 1/3 cup ground toasted almonds 4 flour tortillas Whipped cream, for garnish

How to make them:

Combine the sugar and pears in a big pan and add half the lime juice and all of the orange liqueur. Bring the mixture to a boil over a low to moderate heat, and then simmer until thick. You should stir it constantly near the end of the cooking time. Stir in the almonds, the butter, and the rest of the lime juice. Let it cool. If you like, you can make the filling a day ahead and keep it refrigerated. If you want to do that, let it reach room temperature again before continuing with the recipe.

Warm the tortillas in a heavy skillet or on a griddle, then divide the pear mixture between them. Fold the sides in and then roll them up, securing them with toothpicks. Pour three inches of oil into a deep skillet and heat it to 365 degrees F. Fry the pear chimichangas one or two at a time for about four minutes or until they are golden brown. Drain them on paper towels then sprinkle some powdered sugar over them and serve with whipped cream.

Mexican Dessert Recipes - Delicious Desserts

When you think of Mexican food, you probably think of tacos, burritos, and chips and salsa. Possibly you think of a cold margarita, beer, or iced tea. However, do you think about what you will enjoy for dessert? Believe it or not, there are a lot of great Mexican dessert recipes out there! One of the most popular Mexican desserts is the empanada. You combine butter, cream cheese, and flour to make a ball of dough. After refrigerating the dough overnight, you form it into "rounds" and add a spoonful of fruit preserves to the center of each one. Then, you bake them for about fifteen minutes. When they are finished baking, roll them in cinnamon sugar. They are yummy!

If you enjoy enchiladas, you are sure to like the next Mexican dessert recipe. Apple enchiladas can be served hot with vanilla ice cream. To make the enchiladas, fill tortillas with canned apple pie filling. Then you will prepare a sauce on the stovetop, make from butter, white sugar, brown sugar, and water. Pour the sauce over the enchiladas, and bake them in the oven for about twenty minutes. Then enjoy!

Flan is a classic Mexican dessert that is served in most Mexican restaurants. Not everyone likes it, but when it is prepared correctly, it can be really great. One caveat before making flan: you will need ramekins to bake the flans in, so purchase them before you get started! You will cook sugar in a saucepan until it is caramelized, and then pour some into each ramekin. Then mix together several eggs, sugar, evaporated milk, and vanilla. Pour the custard mix into the ramekins. Bake it in a water bath until an inserted knife comes out clean, about forty-five minutes. You may either enjoy it warm or chilled.

Sopapillas are similar to empanadas but they are fried. You make dough from flour, baking powder, salt, shortening, and water. Then you form the dough into small balls and fry them in vegetable oil. Drain the sopapillas well, and then sprinkle them with honey and/or powdered sugar. See, Mexican dessert recipes are plentiful and easy!

If you enjoy margaritas, you will love Margarita Cake! The cake is a Bundt-style cake made from orange cake mix, vanilla pudding, eggs, oil, water, lemon juice, triple sec, and tequila. While your cake is baking, prepare the delicious glaze for the top! Combine confectioners' sugar, tequila, triple sec, and lime juice. Pour the glaze over the top of the cake while it is still warm.

As you can tell, there are Mexican food is not just about tacos and salsa! There are many easy and delicious Mexican desserts that will add a sweet end to your meal.

Some Typical South American Desserts

Perhaps you are a fan of Mexican food or you have a passion for traditional Mexican desserts like flan, dulce de leche cake, Mexican wedding cookies and more, but what about South American desserts and how do they compare?

If you have visited South America you might have sampled alfajor cookies, or alfajores. These are sandwich cookies which have a filling of dulce de leche. Dulce de leche is a sticky sweet caramel which is as popular in traditional Mexican desserts as in the cakes and cookies of South American countries. If you want to make your own alfajores, you could sandwich them together with jelly, peanut butter, jam, cream or even ice cream.

Fruity Mousse Recipes

Another popular South American treat is passion fruit mousse. The most common mousse flavor might be chocolate but passion fruit adds a delicious tang to mousse and fruit mousses are more common than chocolate mousse in most South American countries. This mousse can be eaten as it is or used to fill cakes or sandwich cookies together.

Actually there are a lot of tropical mousse flavors which are well loved throughout South America. These light, refreshing desserts are ideal when the weather is hot and when you want to cool down.

Savory Ingredients in Sweet Recipes

Picarones are donuts made with sweet potato and pumpkin. These would make a wonderful Halloween recipe and these delectable morsels are deep fried so they come out crispy and hot. Sweet potato and pumpkin are often used in savory dishes like soups or stews and picarones are not that sweet. They are, however, served with a spiced molasses syrup which is extremely sweet and sticky.

Brigadeiros are Brazilian fudge truffle balls which are usually served in paper cups. Brazilian coconut flan and alfajor cookies are also traditionally served in these little paper cups, as is the Peruvian candy called mana.

Mana is a bit like marzipan and you can color it and mold it into fruit shapes. Mana is made with sugar, milk and eggs and it was invented when the conquistadors came to South America. There were no almonds to make marzipan so they experimented with available ingredients and came up with mana instead. It is like fondant and can be rolled out and used to frost cakes.

Peruvian Recipe for Gingerbread

This gingerbread is easy to make and has a wonderful flavor. It is a popular snack in Peru and some other parts of South America. Serve it with whipped cream or by itself.

What you will need:

1/2 cup white sugar
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 egg
1/3 cup shortening
1 cup hot water
1 cup molasses
1 teaspoon ground ginger
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon salt
How to make it:

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Grease a nine by nine inch cake pan and sprinkle flour over it. Combine the baking soda, flour and spices. Mix the hot water and molasses together. Mix the sugar and shortening, then add the egg and mix again.

Add the molasses mixture and the dry ingredients to the shortening mixture and pour the gingerbread into the prepared cake pan. Bake the gingerbread for forty five minutes, and then let it cool in the pan for five minutes.

If you are a fan of South American desserts you will also like the sweeter side of Mexican food. There are plenty of traditional Mexican desserts which you can easily recreate at home, incorporating delicious ingredients like vanilla, chocolate, coffee, cinnamon, tropical fruit and much more.

Desserts for Diabetics

People who suffer from Diabetes have to severely limit certain foods to keep their blood glucose level. This does not have to mean, however, that those people cannot enjoy a little bit of luxury in the form of sweets every so often. These are our favorite two recipes for desserts, designed especially with the diabetic in mind.

Sugar Free Chocolate Raspberry Mousse

Desserts Food

You will need a 9" pie crust brushed with egg whites, ¼ cup whipping cream, ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract, 1/2 cup of fruit-sweet raspberry jam or syrup, ½ pint of fresh, rinsed raspberries, 1 packet of Equal or NutraSweet, 1/3 cup of fat free or light cream cheese, 2/3 cup of partially skin ricotta cheese, ¾ cup of milk, 1 4-serving package of instant sugar-free chocolate pudding, and a mint sprig to decorate each slice.

To make the Creamy Raspberry Filling, first beat the whipping cream. When it is nearly stiff, add the vanilla and a tablespoon of the strained raspberry jam or syrup. Save one berry for the garnish, and fold the remainder of the fresh raspberries and the Equal into the mix. Spread the filling evenly over the bottom of the baked pie shell.

To make the Chocolate Raspberry Mousse, blend the following thoroughly in a blender or food processor: The cream cheese, ricotta cheese and ½ cup of raspberry jam or syrup. When the mixture is smooth and no seeds are detected, hand stir in the milk. Beat in the chocolate pudding powder, only until it is thoroughly mixed. Pour the mousse mixture over the berry filling immediately, making sure that it spread evenly and until the edges of the crust.

Refrigerate for thirty to sixty minutes, until properly congealed. Or you can chill the pie for fifteen to twenty minutes in the freezer. When ready to serve, garnish each individual slice with one raspberry and one mint sprig.

Diabetic Apple Raisin Cookies

You will need one cup of raisins, 1/3 cup of dates, ½ cup of chopped apples, ¾ cup of chopped nuts, 1 cup of water, ½ cup of vegetable shortening, two well-beaten eggs or egg-substitute, 2 ½ teaspoons of liquid sweetener, 1 cup of flour, 1 teaspoon of vanilla, 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of baking powder.

Soak the raisins and dates for at least an hour. Then boil the raisins, dates and apples for a full three minutes. Next, you will want to add the shortening to melt, cool and add the remaining ingredients with nuts last. Refrigerate the mix until it is well chilled, then drop the mix by the teaspoon onto a cookie sheet. Bake the cookies at 350ºF. for 10 to 12 minutes, and enjoy!

Italian food definitely has its fans and one of the many tasty varieties of Italian foods are the desserts. Italian deserts generally come in a wide assortment of choices from cakes to cookies to yummy desserts that are prepared for adults with wine and liquors. If you are looking to prepare an Italian masterpiece for dessert, here are two excellent recipes.

Tiramisu

Ingredients to Use:

- 1 pound of mascarpone cheese

- About 40 lady fingers

- 3 cups Italian coffee

- 6 eggs

- ¾ cup of Marsala wine

- 12 tablespoon of sugar

- 4 tablespoon of coca (power form)

Preparation:

Use an electric mixer to combine both the egg yolks and sugar until the mixture becomes light and fluffy. Save egg whites for use later in the recipe. Add mascarpone cheese and stir it in to this mixture as well. Once these three ingredients are well combined, now add the 6 egg whites. Add the 4 tablespoons of cocoa and mix it in as well. Once it is all mixed place half of the ingredients into a cake dish.

Dip lady fingers into Italian coffee and then place them on top of the mascarpone cream. Cover this up with more contents to create layers. You will want to create about two layers. Once you placed two layers of lady fingers in the cake dish spread with remaining cream. Sprinkle some cocoa powder on the top of the cream. Set the cake dish into the refrigerator for about 24 hours. Enjoy!

If this dessert is created for kids, sub the Marsala wine with just the coffee.

Coconut Balls Cookies

For those wanting a great dessert cookie to go with your Italian Coffee or supper, Coconut ball cookies are extremely flavorful and very easy to make. Below is the recipe.

Ingredients to Use:

To prepare this tasty Italian dessert recipe, combine together the butter and sugar in a large bowl. Make sure they are well blended. Add in your 3 eggs. It is best to add each egg in one at a time and stir well before adding the next in. Now add the 1/3 cup of cocoa, shredded coconut and graham crackers. Before adding the graham crackers make sure they are crushed. Mix all ingredients well and shape them into small balls. Once shaped, refrigerate for about 2 hours before serving. Many people also might want to add a little rum, generally a recipe such as the one we've listed requires about 1 to 3 tablespoons of rum.

Italian Desserts - Just Can't Wait

I have been wondering about desserts the last few days. The irresistible charm that these rich combination of ingredients offer is truly amazing. I surely can't seem to stay away from the charisma that pulls me so strongly towards them whichever corner of the room I may be.

I have this friend who is real far from the world of sweets and desserts. In fact, she just doesn't even feel the urge to try out any desserts even at a party once a while. The pains the hostess has taken to create this visual marvel too doesn't move my friend here in any way. Kudos to her!!I guess it is great being like this because then you are not running on the treadmill to loose all those sinful calories nor do you have a weight problem that makes you sulk at times.

Here on the other hand, I have reached the stage of being obsessed with my craving for sweets. Just can't seem to resist all the delicious desserts, ice creams, cakes and cookies that come my way at every gathering. It is hard to say no to a generous helping of such great looking divine delicacies. In fact, they all seem to be inviting me to dig into this sugary world that provides such a wonderful experience.

For me a meal is not complete without a dessert-the more exotic the better -that's the general rule. I believe that these are life's little pleasures and how can you keep away from it just thinking of the calories or the extra pound. The treadmill and the gym is always there. And believe me even with a sweet tooth I do manage to keep a great figure with a combination of a balanced diet and some exercise.

Italian desserts are what particularly catch my fancy and the "tiramisu" to be more specific. The "tiramisu" in Italian means "pick me up" and I guess rightly so considering the absolutely irresistible delight it is. To put it in simple terms, the tiramisu is a layered cake. It is a combination of delicious mouthwatering ingredients like the ladyfingers, mascarpone cream and yes, coffee. The ladyfingers are soaked in coffee combined with liqueur (optional), layered with mascarpone and topped with chocolate.

The origin of the tiramisu is not exactly known as there are several stories that try to explain the birth of the wonderful delight. A slice of this beautiful creation and you are sure to be transported to a new world and then I guess its past does not make any difference , it's only the present and future bite into this creamy creation that you are looking forward to.

The Tiramisu is one of the most popular Italian desserts and its popularity has made it an inseparable part of the Italian cuisine. With several versions of the tiramisu doing the rounds on the internet, this recipe in particular is one that is my favorite. It is my never fail excuse to a visit to the wonderful world of desserts.
