You might want to avoid sugar first and foremost when you are trying to improve your metabolic rate. Refined sugar mostly found in commercial sweet goods like cakes, cookies and chocolates increases your blood sugar level causing your metabolic rate to slow down. If you want something for dessert try fruits instead.
Processed foods are probably cousins to refined sugar. These types of foods are easy to eat but they have very little or no nutritional value at all. Worse, they are very rich in Trans fats, sugar and sodium that can probably cause cancer according to most researchers. Aside from that eating too much processed foods can cause your metabolic rate to drop.
Fried chicken and French fries are probably two of your most favorite meals. You may not know it but fried foods (especially deep fried ones) are super rich in Trans fats that can put you at a higher risk for heart diseases. If you really want to eat fried foods, just make sure you don't use the same oil every time when cooking.
White bread is not good for you as well. The process used in producing these types of food causes important elements such as B vitamins, iron and micronutrients to be removed. It is also high in sugar that can cause your blood sugar to rise and your metabolic rate to drop down. Choose whole wheat bread instead because it has more nutritional value.
Finally we have alcohol. How does alcohol slow down your metabolism? Well the same way that sugar and calorie-rich foods do. Also, too much alcohol can give you a dehydrating effect and when that happens your body's metabolism may not function properly. Again these are the top five foods you might want to avoid because they can slow down your metabolism.
