How to Store Desserts and Beverages to Make Them Last

Delicious desserts and beverages should be stored the correct way so that they will last. It will be a pity if they spoil faster than they should. It is not difficult nor tedious to follow some steps, and they are guaranteed to make your desserts and beverages last longer. Here are some tips on how you can store them correctly, try it out and you will be amazed by the results:

1. Save the liquids from canned fruits and thicken them with cornstarch; heat and serve as sauce over cake or pudding.

Desserts Food

2. Want fresh fruit pies all year? Prepare several pie fillings and freeze them in pie plates lined with aluminum foil. When frozen, remove the fillings, transfer them to plastic bags, and return to the freezer. Anytime you want a pie, just bake a crust, put a frozen filling in it and thaw.

3. Freeze a frosted cake, then wrap it. The wrapping won't stick to the frosting. Remove the wrapping before thawing the cake.

4. Drop dollops of whipped cream onto a cookie sheet and freeze. Transfer them to plastic bags and return to the freezer. They will thaw in 20 minutes.

5. Don't throw out empty potato-chip cylinders. Decorate them and use them as boxes for gifts of cookies and candy.

6. Coffee beans and ground coffee retain their strong flavor longer if kept in the freezer.

7. In order to keep loose tea and tea bags fresh, you need to store them in air-tight containers. Place the containers in a cool and dark place, make sure that there are no nearby strong-flavored foods.

Filling Weight Loss Foods - Fabulous High Fiber Snacks and Desserts

There are many delicious low-fat, high-fiber snacks and desserts available these days in grocery stores and natural food stores. The new nutritional labeling makes it easier than ever to know what is in a product. Be sure to look for filling low-calorie foods. Also be on the look out for trans-fats! Many store bought products have this unhealthy fat lurking inside them. Usually the most filling foods have high fiber content. High fiber is key for making the hunger pains go away and for sweeping your digestive system. You also want to look for a low sugar count as well as low sodium. Too much sugar or sodium in a food will cause you to retain water and make you feel bloated.

Some of the absolute best choices are just about any kind of fruit. Strawberries, bananas, blueberries and apples are some of the most filling fruit. Mix the fruit with a cup of low-fat yogurt for added calcium and acidophiles.

Desserts Food

Vegetables are also great to eat with hummus or a yogurt dip. Sugar snap peas, celery, carrots and cauliflower are all easy to pack and eat. A little bit of peanut or almond butter is tasty and nutritious on celery stalks.

Homemade snacks are great too. It's easy to make homemade applesauce. All you do is peel and cut apples (Granny Smith is great because they are tart), put them in a baking dish, add honey or agave syrup and sprinkle cinnamon on top. Mix well and bake in the oven at 350* degrees for about ½ hour or until tender. Delicious!

Cookies are easy to make healthy! Old Fashioned Molasses cookies are a fantastic treat and so good for you to! So are Chewy Oatmeal-raisin cookies. The best way to make a cookie healthy is use honey or agave syrup for the sugar substitute. Also, use unbleached flour or whole wheat pastry flour instead of bleached white flour. Applesauce or yogurt is a good substitute for oil and or butter.

For desserts, a fruit crisp or cobbler is easy and delicious! If you like chocolate, these Dutch cocoa fudge brownies will surprise you with their rich chocolate flavor and fudge like texture. They're a fast and simple treat. Combine 2 tablespoons butter, 1 cup of sugar, ½ cup unsweetened applesauce, 1 egg, and 2 teaspoons of vanilla in a bowl and mix. Then slowly beat in ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder and ¾ whole-wheat pastry flour. Bake for 25 minutes in a 350* degree preheated oven. Quite a treat!

Dessert Ideas for Entertaining Guests at Dinner Parties

You may think the most important part of a dinner party is the dinner - but you would be wrong. While having a delicious dinner and great conversation are key to a successful event, the most important element of your dinner party is the dessert! Likely this will be the last thing your guests remember and can really cap off a good meal and good night in the right way.

Dinner Party Dessert Ideas

Desserts Food

Do not stress out about choosing the most fancy dessert ideas for your dinner party. You do not need a flaming pudding or crème brulee to excite your guests' palates, instead consider serving your family and friends a delicious cheesecake. There are so many cheesecake flavors you can be sure you will find one to accommodate even the pickiest of eaters. Cheesecake is such a versatile dessert it can be dressed up with chocolate or caramel swirls, decorated with sliced fruit or just left to shine all on its own. No matter how you choose to display your cheesecake, your guests will agree that it is one of the best desserts you can choose!

More Dessert Ideas for Parties

If your guests have a variety of different taste preferences, a whole cheesecake may not be the right dinner party dessert idea. Instead of purchasing a big cheesecake that is all one flavor, consider getting a cheesecake assortment. You have a few of options when choosing assorted cheesecakes. You can get a large "gourmet assortment" cake, which comes with three slices of Mocha, three slices of Turtle, three slices of Original and three slices of the Very Strawberry cake. This assortment has something to please everyone. You can even choose a flavor theme - Chocolate Lovers or a Very Berry- if you know your guests have similar tastes but also appreciate variety.

You can also choose an assortment of mini cheesecakes. This option allows each of your guests to enjoy their very own cheesecake! We will send you a seven-pack assortment of our top selling cakes right now, and your dinner party guests will be able to enjoy Strawberry Swirl, Original, Turtle and Key Lime cheesecakes!

Simple Dinner Party Dessert Ideas

Remove one item from your to-do list by ordering a cheesecake online. Do not waste time driving to and from a bakery or store, just walk to your computer, choose your cake and wait for it to be delivered straight to your door.

Dinner parties are the perfect opportunity for you to gather with friends and family, share a good meal and enjoy each other's company. In all of the hustle and bustle of planning a party, do not forget about serving a fantastic dessert! Let a mail order cheesecake impress your guests before the night has ended

Weight Loss Recipes - 2 Low Calorie Desserts That Even Non-Dieters Will Enjoy

When we go on a diet, we think we will be strong, and for a while we really manage to resist all these temptations of sweet foods and desserts. But sooner or later, we miss them too much, and that's when we start cheating on our diet.

Many have fallen into this trap of thinking that any fat and sugar must be completely banned in order to lose weight, and not realizing that not a restrictive but rather an overall healthy and balanced diet is the key to successful weight loss and weight maintenance. And in a balanced diet, sweetness and desserts too have their cherished place.

Desserts Food

Here are two low calorie dessert recipes that you won't need to feel bad about. Both recipes make six servings.

Chocolate Cream With Strawberries

Ingredients:

2 tbsp. pure cocoa 1 tsp. gelatine 300g soft tofu 1 tsp. vanilla essence   2 egg whites 1 tbsp. castor sugar 150 g strawberries (quartered), + 12 whole strawberries extra mint leaves for decoration

Steps:

Dissolve the gelatine according to the instructions on the packet (for adding it to cold liquid).   Dissolve the cocoa in 60 ml hot water. Drain the tofu, mix it in your blender with the cocoa mixture and the vanilla essence until smooth. Fill the cream into a bowl, add the gelatine and mix well. Beat egg whites in a separate bowl until it starts getting firm. Add the sugar and beat well until firm and glossy. Carefully mix under the chocolate cream with a metal spoon. Fill the quartered strawberries in six 250-ml dessert bowls and cover with the chocolate cream. Put into the fridge for a couple of hours until it is firm. Decorate with the whole strawberries and mint leaves and serve.
Poached Apples In Grape And Mango Syrup

Ingredients:

6 firm apples 1/2 l white grape juice 1/2 l mango juice   4 cloves 500 g white grapes 250 g low-fat yoghurt (plain or vanilla flavor) 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon 1 tbsp. honey

Steps:

Put grape and mango juice with the cloves in a pot that is large enough for the apples. Peel the apples but leave the stems on, then put them in the pot with the juices. Bring to boil, then cover with a lid and allow simmering on low heat for 35-40 minutes until the apples are soft. Remove the pot from the stove and let apples and syrup cool down. Carefully move apples and syrup into a large bowl, cover with cling wrap and put in the fridge over night. Bring the syrup to boil, then reduce the heat and have it simmering for 40 minutes. It should reduce to about one third of the liquid. Let it cool down slightly. In the meantime, mix yoghurt, cinnamon and honey in a bowl. Place the apples each on a small plate, pour the syrup over them and arrange some grapes on the plate. Spoon the yoghurt mixture over the apples and serve immediately.

Remember that there is absolutely nothing wrong with having a tempting dessert every now and then. It won't blow up your weight loss diet. All that matters is that you keep these desserts for occasional treats, and that you make an honest attempt to keep them as healthy as possible, using low fat products, reducing sugar or using sugar alternatives, and whenever possible include fruit.

Italian Desserts - Just Can't Wait

I have been wondering about desserts the last few days. The irresistible charm that these rich combination of ingredients offer is truly amazing. I surely can't seem to stay away from the charisma that pulls me so strongly towards them whichever corner of the room I may be.

I have this friend who is real far from the world of sweets and desserts. In fact, she just doesn't even feel the urge to try out any desserts even at a party once a while. The pains the hostess has taken to create this visual marvel too doesn't move my friend here in any way. Kudos to her!!I guess it is great being like this because then you are not running on the treadmill to loose all those sinful calories nor do you have a weight problem that makes you sulk at times.

Desserts Food

Here on the other hand, I have reached the stage of being obsessed with my craving for sweets. Just can't seem to resist all the delicious desserts, ice creams, cakes and cookies that come my way at every gathering. It is hard to say no to a generous helping of such great looking divine delicacies. In fact, they all seem to be inviting me to dig into this sugary world that provides such a wonderful experience.

For me a meal is not complete without a dessert-the more exotic the better -that's the general rule. I believe that these are life's little pleasures and how can you keep away from it just thinking of the calories or the extra pound. The treadmill and the gym is always there. And believe me even with a sweet tooth I do manage to keep a great figure with a combination of a balanced diet and some exercise.

Italian desserts are what particularly catch my fancy and the "tiramisu" to be more specific. The "tiramisu" in Italian means "pick me up" and I guess rightly so considering the absolutely irresistible delight it is. To put it in simple terms, the tiramisu is a layered cake. It is a combination of delicious mouthwatering ingredients like the ladyfingers, mascarpone cream and yes, coffee. The ladyfingers are soaked in coffee combined with liqueur (optional), layered with mascarpone and topped with chocolate.

The origin of the tiramisu is not exactly known as there are several stories that try to explain the birth of the wonderful delight. A slice of this beautiful creation and you are sure to be transported to a new world and then I guess its past does not make any difference , it's only the present and future bite into this creamy creation that you are looking forward to.

The Tiramisu is one of the most popular Italian desserts and its popularity has made it an inseparable part of the Italian cuisine. With several versions of the tiramisu doing the rounds on the internet, this recipe in particular is one that is my favorite. It is my never fail excuse to a visit to the wonderful world of desserts.

Mexican Style Desserts - Sweet and Spice Make Nice

Everyone knows Mexican food is colorful and exciting. So are their desserts. As Mexican food gains acceptance around the world, their desserts should also come into their own. There are so many delectable temptations that it is utterly amazing that they have not been shown off to their best advantage before.

Many of the most popular desserts in Mexico are made of ice cream, puddings, or custards. Probably the best known custard in Mexico is the flan. This is a thick custard covered in a rich caramel sauce. Usually they are vanilla flavored, but they can also come in coconut, lime and other delicious varieties. Fried ice cream is probably one of the most bizarre desserts to some of us. The crisp coating is delicious... especially when paired with the creamy ice cream inside.

Desserts Food

Arroz con leche is a delicious, hearty rice pudding. This thick, creamy pudding is seasoned with nutmeg and cinnamon. You may find your bowl sprinkled with almonds or walnuts. It may also have a bit of butter melted on top. This dessert is a favorite of young and old alike.

Mexico loves its sweet breads. You can find churros everywhere. These are fried sticks of dough dusted with sugar cinnamon. You can also find filled churros with a middle of vanilla custard. Alternatively, maybe you like sopapillas better. These triangles of fried dough are coated with cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar. They are served up on a plate with a dipping sauce of honey or melted chocolate. Pan Dulce are sweet rolls. Topped with flavored sugar, they also may include cinnamon, anise, or dried fruit. Sometimes bakers put designs on the shells of the rolls. These rolls are often used as a snack as well as a dessert.

Cookies are prevalent in Mexico. Some are similar to shortbread and are flavored with almond extract or anise. Mexican wedding cookies are popular wherever they are served. This delectable little sugar cookie may be flavored with orange extract.

Pastries with fillings are a popular treat in Mexico. Empanadas are one of the most familiar. They are like little pies that can be either savory or sweet. Savory empanadas are filled with cheese and meat; sweet ones are filled with fruit such as guava, mango, and apple. You can also find them filled with a white cheese called queso blanco. This variety is topped off with a wonderful chocolate sauce. Chimichangas are another pastry that can easily transition from savory to sweet. When used as dessert, the flour tortilla is filled with fruits, nuts or a sweetened cheese. They are fried and then topped with cinnamon sugar or a rich sauce made of custard.

When you are choosing a Mexican dessert, keep an open mind. You may discover many recipes online that you never dreamed of. Make a few and see what you like best. You may find a new treat your family will love.

If you are tired of the same old desserts, take a look at what Mexico has to offer. They have so many sweet delicacies it may be hard to choose. They are all delicious and easy. Try some and you may find that you are adding that recipe to your permanent file.

Mexican Style Desserts - Sweet and Spice Make Nice

Mexican dessert recipes are aimed towards people with a sweet tooth who like a little spice too. Ingredients like vanilla, chocolate and cinnamon and chilies are popular when it comes to Mexican recipes and desserts with fresh fruit are always well loved. If these ingredients sound good to you, you are going to love making Mexican dessert recipes.

How Does Nutrisystem Food Taste?

I am asked a lot of questions about Nutrisystem.  Some common ones are "does it really work," "how hard is it follow," and "do you really get to eat pizza and desserts," etc.  Thanks to all of the celebrities that are or have been on this plan (Jillian Barberie, Marie Osmond, Tori Spelling, etc.), it's pretty common knowledge that you can eat chocolate and tacos on it. But, what isn't stated is how tasty these offerings really are.  Without a doubt, the most common question people want to know is: "how does the Nutrisystem food really taste?"  Because even if the diet plan works great, it isn't going to matter if you can't stomach the food. In this article, I will tell you how I rate the taste (keep in mind this is only my opinion, but I'm pretty picky) and I'll tell you which foods I really don't like and avoid when I place orders.

The Nutrisystem Breakfast Foods Taste Pretty Good: Some people don't realize that this is really a low carb diet.  The foods are very high in protein.  When I found this out, I was hesitant because I love my carbs and didn't want to have to give them up.  Luckily, the breakfast carb options are plentiful, including cereals, (NutriFrosted, NutriFlakes and NutriCinnamon Squares), muffins, and oatmeals.  Yes, there are also eggs but you can avoid them if you want. Overall, thumbs up.

Desserts Food

The Nutrisystem Desserts And Snacks Are The Best Tasting Items On The Menu: Very smartly, the company stresses it's desserts and snacks.  (This is important because you eat five times per day on this diet, so you'll eat a lot of them.)  There are over thirty options here, with many of them being milk and white chocolate.  There are also cakes (snack sized of course), biscotti, and cookies.  Yes, the portions are small and some of them aren't as sweet or filling as their full sugar or full fat adversaries, but they are totally fine.  And, when you are craving something sweet, they do the trick without the calories or the guilt.

There are also salty type snacks - chips, pretzels, etc.  Admittedly, these sometimes have the texture or a baked rather than a fried chip and are also much less greasy, but if you want something salty, they will certainly work.

The Nutrisystem Lunches And Dinners That Taste Most Decent: Since I've already covered breakfasts and snacks, I'll go over the lunch and dinner foods that I find taste the best (and are my staples which I order over and over again.) They are:

The pizza: (There is a flat bread option and a thin crust option. I like the thin a bit better. Neither is loaded with cheese or bread, but again, for diet food, it's pretty good.

The macaroni and cheese:  Again, it's not dripping with greasy cheese, but it's a nice creamy consistency (I was fearing a consistency of the sprinkle cheese that comes with my kids microwave mac and cheese, but it wasn't like that at all) and is more filling than I thought it would be.

The lasagna: OK, I'm going to admit that this was not what I was expecting. There is spinach and beans in it (in addition to a meat sauce) but it has a pleasant taste, sort of like a creamy veggie lasagna.

The chili: This is light and reminds me a bit of Wendy's chili.  It is very versatile and sometimes I use it as a topping to the nachos.

The fettuccine alfredo: This is one of my favorites.  It's very creamy, filling, and rich.  Of all of the foods, this is the one that fools me the most into thinking I'm cheating and am not on a diet.

The Nutrisystem Foods That Taste Pretty Bad: There are a few foods that I will not eat.  It is because of these foods that I always build my own package when I order (which is basically the same price anyway).  These are: the beef stew, the beef stroganoff, and the pasta with beef.  Can you tell that beef is my least favorite food?  To be fair, I doubt that I would willingly eat these foods even in every day, non dieting life.

My Overall Review Of Nutrisystem Food: Overall, I am pretty satisfied with the taste of variety of the foods offered.  After all, this is a diet and the foods aren't going to taste like haute cuisine.  However, for prepackaged diet food, I believe it's among the best that I have tried (especially the breakfasts and desserts.)  No, I don't like all of it, but luckily the plan allows you to customize your package so that you aren't stuck with foods you find bad.  I just started out with their basic package so I could sample what I liked and didn't.  And from then on, I just loaded up on my favorites and avoided the rest.

Soul Food Recipes - Top 3 Cakes Eaters Love

Soul food desserts follow the best southern recipes to top off the best meals. The one layer cakes have the reputation as tasty, satisfying and light. I polled a sample of my readers on their favorite cakes. Many were eaters and others were cooks who prided themselves on baking these cakes. Of course those were the one's with the interesting stories and memory.

The memories of family gatherings accompanied by their cake creations filled their thoughts. Most of the cakes that finished at the top of the favorites list were the one layer or the sheet cake variety. But others that received votes but finished lower on the list mentioned the multi-layer cakes. These received fewer votes perhaps because they had more elaborate baking techniques than the 3 that finished at the top of our voters list. For example, the 3 layer chocolate and coconut cakes.

Desserts Food

Here's a list of the top 3 soul food cakes voted by readers.

1. Sock-it-to-me Cake - This cake started out as an excellent cake eaten for the holidays. But it has grown in popularity and now many people enjoy it all year. The pecans, cinnamon and nutmeg gives it a tasty and crunchy texture. An excellent coffee cake if you drink coffee. Also an excellent light snack also.

2. 7-Up Cake - This light cake has grown into a popular soul food cake. As the name implies, 7up is added to the cake mix instead of water. This helps to make the cake light and airy. The texture is similar to pound cake. It's shaped and baked in a bunt pan and topped with a glaze or white frosting.

3. Lemon Jell-O Cake - This is another favorite with readers who love the hint of tang plus the lightness of the cake. This sheet cake is topped with a clear lemon glaze that gives it just the right look and taste. People love this cake because it's super simple to make and taste good. It's especially good right out of the oven and topped with glaze.

Cake is an all time favorite when it comes to soul food recipes. These desserts represent celebration and good times to those who consume them. Their simplicity encourages more people to try their hand at baking them and many have. These are beginners cakes. Some creative types even add their own imagination to give the cakes their own unique touch or signature.

Fourth of July Desserts

People had been so creative and innovative in making use of color mixes to signify nationalism and patriotism for the Fourth of July desserts. It does not matter what type of recipe you are making for as long as it has a scheme of red, white or blue in it, then it is as good as the American Independence itself. Dessert choices ranging from cheesecakes, cupcakes, puddings and other pastries are but some of the wide range of dessert recipes applicable for the festivity. With a simple application of white icing, you can already fashion your own cakes and cupcakes into a U.S. flag of some sort. Fruits as well can be arranged strategically to mimic the flag. These sumptuous dishes are very easy to prepare and not to mention, most have cheap ingredients that are readily available in the market or even in your own backyard.

With simple ingredients such as ice cream, syrup, berries, whipped cream and sugar, one can already create a Yankee Doodle Sundae. With the warm atmosphere in the air, carry along desserts are just perfect anytime anywhere. These may include a Margarita Pie and Dirt. The latter is especially recommended for picnics having lots of kids in attendance while the Margarita pie's tasty pretzel crust really makes ones mouth water. One can also use a certain colored butter cream and other cake decorators like strawberries to mimic the Star - Spangled Banner. For storage purposes, these cold foods can be placed and kept in coolers with lots of ice to maintain the coolness of it all. Overall, these foods are just perfect to be one of the Fourth of July desserts.

Making A Party Dessert Pizza Recipe

When you are having a special party, holiday fun or a gathering of people whether family or business associates you will want to serve something wonderful for an after meal dessert. Then again, perhaps you are party planning for a slumber party for your children and their friends. Whatever reason you have for gathering family and friends together you want to entertain them as well as have them leave with a smile of satisfaction and a sweet taste in their mouth. You can do this by making and serving a party dessert pizza recipe.

What Makes a Pizza Good?

Desserts Food

If you have never heard of or tried a dessert pizza, you are in for a special treat. You see, pizza does not always have to be made of meats, cheeses, vegetables, and tangy sauces. Some of them are delightfully sweet and surprising. Here we can tell you how to make an easy snack or treat for any occasion.

Pizzas are made of three layers. The first is a dough or biscuit base. The base is slathered with some kind of sauce or gravy type mixture and then the sauce is covered with some kind of topping. You can make the dough, the sauce, and the toppings from many different ingredients.

Recipe for Crispy Treat Fruit Dessert Pizza

What You Need

¼ cup butter or margarine 32 large marshmallows 5 cups crispy rice cereal 1 package cream cheese 8 ounce 2 cups confectioners sugar ¼ cup cocoa 14 medium size halved strawberries 2 sliced bananas 2 chopped kiwis 2 Tablespoons peach jam 1 ½ teaspoons water 1 small container whipped topping

How to Make It

Prepare your pizza pan or cookie sheet by lightly coating it with cooking spray and set aside until needed.

Using a medium saucepan over a low heat setting add the butter or margarine and the marshmallows. Stir until melted and then remove pan from heat. Stir the dry cereal into this mixture until thoroughly mixed.

Press this mixture onto the pizza pan or cookie sheet evenly and then place it in the refrigerator to chill.

Using a small mixing bowl add the cream cheese, confectioners sugar and cocoa to prepare the sauce. Beat until creamy and smooth in texture and appearance. Spread this sauce over the pizza crust evenly.

Using the strawberries, bananas and kiwi arrange them evenly over the sweet crispy crust much like you would any other pizza topping, unless you would like to create some fanciful design.

Mix the peach jam and water in a small cup. Brush this mixture over the fruit topping to reduce the browning of fruit.

This is indeed a rich sweet dessert. Before serving, cut this pizza into smaller slices than you normally would for a regular pizza. Then drop dollops of whipped cream onto the pizza slices.

Making A Party Dessert Pizza Recipe

When it comes to serving pizza the sky may be the limit when it involves the various ingredients you can use to make all three layers of a pizza. For instance, you can enjoy just about anything from an authentic Italian dish to even a fun and fanciful fruit pizza recipe for parties and other gatherings. There are many more different recipes you may want to try, so be sure to visit our website.

Healthy Dessert Recipes - Raved About Pecan Pie!

Healthy desserts definitely do not need to be boring. Take this one. An amazingly delicious pecan pie recipe that has been in our family for decades. And super easy. Besides the Yum Factor, it happens to be a really healthy dessert too! (You may know that pecans are very high in all kinds of nutrition food values, so when included, they create very nutritious recipes. Plus - take a look at the flavorful sweetener we use).

You just can't go wrong with this pecan pie recipe, which is continually raved about whenever we make it. I can't even begin to tell you how many people over the years have said it's the best pecan pie they've had. So I just had to share this specialty which has been passed down from my grandma, so this recipe is definitely tried and true. And it's not just for the holidays (for some reason people associate pecan pie with Thanksgiving and Winter holidays, in the U.S. But make it any time! It's also perfect for the Fourth of July! Or parties and receptions. You can use either a regular pie crust, or the mini party-style pie shells.

Desserts Food

It only takes about 15 minutes to put together.

You will need

1 to 1 1/2 cups pecan halves

1 deep pie shell, unbaked (or mini pie shells)

3 eggs

1/4 tsp salt

1 cup pure maple syrup

1/3 melted butter

2 teaspoons molasses

Beat the above ingredients thoroughly, until mixed well.

Then add in the pecan halves and stir well.

Preheat oven to 350 F degrees. Put the pie shell (in its pie pan) onto a cookie sheet as a protection, so the pie mixture will not dribble onto your oven rack and burn while baking. Then pour the above mixture into the pie shell. The mixture will be soupy and can spill. Carefully put into oven. Bake about 50 minutes or until a knife comes out clean.

This fantastic pecan pie recipe is pretty much a no-brainer. Like I said, it takes about 15 minutes to make, but then of course allow for the baking time. You'll sure to get compliments. So try it out!

Food From Ecuador - Delicious!

Ecuador has an exceptional geographic location. Having its coast to the Pacific Ocean and surrounded by Peru and by Colombia, and having different altitudes in its country, part of it in the Amazon forest, the diversity in climates and cultures adds to the diversity in its food.

Food in Ecuador has a great variation between the different regions of the country. The Andean region has one style, the mountain people another and the coast people another. Each one having delicious dishes, and because if its very fertile land, it has an enormous amount of fruits and vegetables. Also, it shows us three very different styles in cooking.

Desserts Food

Different from other South American countries, people in the Ecuadorian cities don't go home for lunch, they eat just something near their working places, and though they have breakfast, lunch and dinner, this last one is their main meal.

Their dinner almost always includes a soup. Ecuador is famous for its soups. They are also famous for the seafood, and their vegetables. Potatoes, of course, are an important part of their diet, as well as their delicious variety of exotic fruits. The food in Ecuador is varied, according to the different regions.

In the mountain regions, we will find pork, chicken, potatoes, and grains -corn and rice- and plenty of fruits. By the coast we have all kinds of fishes, shrimps, lobsters, soups. And south of the mountains, we have another kind of food, including ceviche, made with shrimps, pork, a banana soup, and delicious desserts.

There's no limit on what we can find to eat in Ecuador. Their fruits, their vegetables and their fishes are all extremely good and make your mouth want more and more of those delicacies. They add to all this, a special sauce, called "aji", which is a hot sauce, and you can decide if you use it or not. But any dish is tasty enough without it!

In addition to all this, the Ecuadorian chocolate is just wonderful! In Europe, mostly in Italy, they just adore this chocolate!

If we were to summarize what the food in Ecuador is, we could say, they eat plenty of sea food, beef, chicken, pork. They eat potatoes cooked in many different ways, rice, corn, many vegetables and many different fruits. Soups are almost a must in each dinner. And all this prepared using their wonderful spices! Ecuadorians are used to exquisite desserts, but, most of all, delicious chocolate!

Christmas Party Tips and Christmas Dessert Ideas

Christmas, the most magical time of the year - the season of merriment is here again! The season of new beginnings, where forgotten vows are renewed and love fills the air around us that transcends above all. Especially children who wait in much anticipation for their favourite guy - Ole' Santa Claus! Don't you just love the growing merriment and excitement filling the air as the big day draws near? Breathe in...ah, how can you not love the aroma of delicious gingerbread, cakes and cookies baking and other food which are specially prepared only during the Christmas season?

Time for parties and celebrations and you are probably scratching your head for ideas or small little parties for family and friends. This can be a challenge especially if you are looking at coming up with something fresh and new. Some tips here if you plan to hold a party at home:

Desserts Food

Firstly, have the right mix of music. Have lively Christmas music to create the right festive mood of party cheer as your guests enjoy the food and laughter. Can you picture your guests having fun with Silent Night playing in the background? Next, decorate your house with traditional Christmas decorations to set the right atmosphere. Don't forget Christmas stockings, mistletoes and Christmas ribbons. Have plenty of lightings, especially outdoors. Pay special attention to the Christmas Tree. Make it sparklingly grand! Kids will be at your party? Arrange special activities to occupy them and ensure sufficient supervision of them. Leave the tv on with Christmas cartoons or movies. And most importantly, some Christmas dessert ideas if you're planning to serve your guests. Prepare a wide spread of food and desserts, in other words, something for everyone. Dress desserts up with pretty traditional Christmas colours. Include cream cheese desserts, chocolate desserts and the traditional Christmas cake or puddings and even homemade candies for kids. Prepare great fruit punches so that everyone can enjoy them. Always prepare more than expected. That's the spirit of Christmas - giving and abundance.

Easy chocolate desserts work best as they are a favourite with most folks, so you will almost never go wrong. You can also easily find many favourite Christmas dessert recipes that are available online or from recipe books if you are keen on making your own homemade cakes, cookies or pies. Again, easy is the keyword here, as you will want time to mingle around.

I have a simple recipe for you too - it's called the Delicious Yuletide Fruit Cake which took me less than 30 minutes to prepare so you'll have plenty of time for your guests too.

Ingredients :

1/2 cup Self-raising Flour; sifted

1 can Condensed Milk

1 tsp Vanilla Essence

1 1/2 cups Dessicated Coconut

2 1/2 cups Pecans; coarsely chopped

1 cup Dried Apricots; chopped into small bits

1 1/2 cups Dates; coarsely chopped

300 g Candied Cherries; red and green; chopped

2 tbsp Icing Sugar; for decoration

Method:

Mix chopped pecans, apricots bits, dates and cherries together. Drizzle condensed milk over fruit mixture and keep stirring. Add in vanilla essence. Now add in dessicated coconut. Fold in sifted flour until no more flour lumps.

Spoon cake mixture into greased tube pan. Bake in preheated oven at 150°C for 20 minutes before upping heat to 170°C and bake for another 30 minutes.

Allow cake to cool a little before removing from pan. Dust cake lightly with icing sugar. Keep cake in air-tight container.

Recipes for Heart Shaped Desserts and Treats

Food decorating, especially for sweets, can make them look very delicious and appetizing. Whether it is the shape of the food, the sprinkles on top, or even just the packaging, a good-looking dessert makes your sweet tooth ask for more. For years, chefs and pastry chefs have developed so many ways on how to make food look good and taste better as well. They use the best ingredients themselves, use different colorings and topping, and place them in special packaging all to achieve that one goal - to make food look as sumptuous as it can be.

Food served at restaurants and sometimes even at fast food places follows this principle. You can get your food served with garnishing on the sides or plated in a very special way. However, you can do the same kind of preparation and decoration at home with a few simple tricks.

Desserts Food

For your desserts, why not pour your heart into it and let it show, literally? You can make desserts and sweets cut out into heart shapes for that extra special look. Both the kids and adults can enjoy these heart-shaped goodie recipes:

For a Heart-Shaped Cake:

Make your cake as you normally would. Using either a large round or square cake pan, pour ready to use cake mix or use the special recipe that you have. We suggest the use of a chiffon cake instead of other moist or gooey cake recipe as chiffon will be much easier to mold later on. After baking, let the cake rest and cool. After the cake has rested, cut it into a heart shape and discard the outer edges. Cover the cake with frosting and top it with candy sprinkles, nuts, cherries, chocolate, or whatever cake decoration you desire.

For Gelatin Hearts:

Mix one pack of your favorite gelatin flavor with two cups of hot water. Pour this mixture into a shallow dish no higher than an inch. For the mixture, do not go all the way to edge of the pan but rather fill it up halfway up to just half an inch thick. Place the dish in the chiller for it to firm. After the gelatin has firmed up (time varies depending on the package instructions), use a heart shaped cookie cutter to create the heart-shaped gelatin. Place the gelatins in a heart shaped plate or pan before serving.

If you know the basics of baking or of preparing desserts, these sweets are very easy to prepare and it takes just a few minutes to make. You can impress your family and friends with these delectable looking treats that you can serve to them no matter what the occasion is. Recipes from the heart will truly show through its taste, and goodies that are heart-shaped will also show the love you want to send in a very obvious way. But most of all, make your recipe as special as it can be by using great recipes that everyone will truly love, whether for cakes or gelatins. Remember that after all, the taste and flavor will really matter.

Boys Food - Boys Know What They Like to Eat and Eat Plenty of It

Does boys food differ from the foods that girls choose to eat? The answer to that question is yes. Boys do seem to like different foods than girls. In fact, when presented with options or choices of foods, boys will choose separate foods than girls will choose. Boys know what they like to eat and eat plenty of it.

Boys Choose Certain Beverages
Even their beverage choices differ. Boys tend to choose sports drinks or sodas over other beverages when given the choice. Yet, girls tend to want to drink either water or fruit juice. However, one choice they agree on is milk. Both boys and girls do choose milk when it is an option. Boys especially seem to like chocolate milk.

Desserts Food

Amount of Food Boys Eat
Boys tend to eat more than girls. Boys' portions or helpings of meats, vegetables, fruits, and desserts are often much larger than the portions girls choose for themselves. Boys also tend to eat faster than girls and more frequently than girls.

Typical Boys Food
What foods do boys typically like to eat? Of course, every boy is different and has varying tastes. However, some foods are typically favorites among boys. These foods include chicken tenders, French fries, pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers, and chicken wings. Any mom who has sons knows these particular foods will go over well with boys of any age.

Boys Like to Eat Fast Food
Boys do like to eat at fast food restaurants. Examples of these restaurant chains include McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, Pizza Hut, and Papa John's Pizza. These chains usually carry the foods boys most like to eat including pizza and French fries. The only problem with these chain restaurants is that the food they serve is usually not the healthiest food available, and growing boys need their vitamins.

Boys and Fruit
Boys food does not usually include fresh fruits. They will choose to eat fruit flavored snacks or fruit bars over fresh fruits such as bananas, oranges, or apples. Boys are more likely to eat fruit that has been cooked in pies (like blueberry pie) or in muffins (like strawberry muffins).

Boys and Desserts
Boys do eat their fair share of desserts. They seem to like them all. They typically eat all flavors of ice cream, cakes, pies, brownies, cookies, and all flavors of pudding. In fact, many boys would prefer their desserts first at mealtime.

Boys do have their likes and preferences when it comes to the foods they choose to eat. Boys tend to like to eat foods based upon the flavors of the foods, not the nutritional values of the foods. As the boys grow older, they begin to see the importance of nutritional value and their food likes and dislikes change and evolve over time.

Desserts to Die For

Having a sweet tooth is so underrated. Pizza--delicious. Cheeseburgers and fries--yes, please. But if you really want to indulge, nothing beats a flourless chocolate cake, bread pudding with extra caramel sauce or a slice of pecan pie with vanilla ice cream. Why not do as writer Ernestine Ulmer once said, "Life is uncertain. Eat dessert first"? After all, 'tis the season for keeping warm via comfort food. There are many hidden treasures, along with restaurants already known for their sweets, and they are all right in your backyard. Here are some great desserts to live, or perhaps die, for.

Hot Chocolate

Desserts Food

1747 N. Damen, 773-489-1747

Although the name suggests otherwise, there's something for chocolate and non-chocolate lovers alike at this sleek and hip, Bucktown hotspot. Mindy Segal, MK alumna and acclaimed pastry chef, centers the menu around fabulous desserts, but there are also solid brunch and dinner options, such as a hamburger made with farm-raised beef and aged cheddar, a tuna melt and entrees including free-range chicken and fresh fish. Chocolate lovers won't have a hard time ordering dessert here, as there are several cocoa-heavy treats like the "percentages." The Chocolate 72% is a chocolate fudge mint cake that tastes like a rich brownie made of Girl Scout Thin Mints, accompanied by more fudge mint in the form of a small, shooter-sized shake. Another winner is the Chocolate 35%, a rich, Valrhona milk chocolate and peanut mousse terrine that has a caramel center and sides of peanut brittle and malted milk foam. Too much? How about just a cup of the famous house hot chocolate made with real cocoa and marshmallows. Or opt for one of the fruity desserts, such as the Black and Blue, a sandwich made with citrus shortbread and lemon curd, served with sour cream sorbet and poached, organic blueberries and blackberries.

Osteria di Tramonto

601 N. Milwaukee, Wheeling, 847-777-6570

There comes a time in everyone's life when they must try something sweet made by Gale Gand, pastry queen of Chicago--and the country, for that matter. Gand's stellar reputation and award-winning prowess comes from her success as executive pastry chef at Tru, the legendary, four-star downtown restaurant she runs with longtime culinary partner and acclaimed chef Rick Tramonto. Gand also hosts "Sweet Dreams" on the Food Network. Now, she and Tramonto have teamed up to open this lively Italian restaurant tucked in the Westin Chicago North Shore hotel. Ordering at least two of Gand's ethereal desserts here are a must. If in a bind over which to pick, try this: close your eyes and point to anything on the menu--you're guaranteed to wind up with something extraordinary. The profiteroles, four pastry shells filled with unique flavors of gelato, such as caramel, hazelnut or espresso, are all doused in a rich, warm chocolate sauce. Or try the orange ricotta cannoli--deep-fried wonton shells filled with citrusy ricotta, atop a dusting of pistachios and white and dark chocolate shavings for dipping. With a buttery crust, seasonal apples, a silky-rich caramel sauce and vanilla gelato, the apple crostata is another crowd favorite.

Sweets and Savories

1534 W. Fullerton, 773-281-6778

At this cozy, intimate spot in Lincoln Park, the menu lives up to the restaurant's name. Sweet chocolate finds its way into a savory beef tenderloin dish, mashed potatoes mix with mascarpone and a fig "ketchup" accompanies duck fat fries. And the sweet stuff doesn't stop there--David Richards, executive chef, is also known for his scrumptious desserts. A bestseller is the chocolate fondant cake--a warm, molten chocolate cake baked to order and accompanied by a scoop of chocolate sorbet and generous drizzling of rich chocolate ganache sauce. Another favorite is the milk chocolate, warm pecan pie with a burnt caramel- and brandy-accented soft center, marbled with melted chocolate and large pecan chunks and enveloped by a flaky butter crust. That alone would be superb, but the pie is then topped with a scoop of cocoa-dusted, Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream, which balances the sweetness of the caramel sauce on the plate.

Angelina Restaurante

3561 N. Broadway, 773-935-5933

You truly have not lived or you haven't lived well until you've had the bread pudding at this romantic, hidden gem in East Lakeview, which serves homemade and authentic Italian fare. Their traditional Italian bread pudding has a milk chocolate twist. Many bread puddings can be soggy and too wet, but this pudding stays semi-firm, yet moist and rich, studded with the chocolate chunks, which, having only slightly melted, maintain their shape and add a surprise factor to every bite.

Luxbar

18 E. Bellevue, 312-642-3400

If you're going to order dessert, you might as well go all out. The Snickers pie at this Gibsons-owned hotspot in the heart of the Gold Coast will knock your socks off--in terms of both its size and taste. The massive heap of ice cream embedded with layers of Snickers bits, chocolate, caramel and peanuts, serves at least eight people. Although the pie sounds like it would be too sweet, lovers of the treat swear by the stuff because of the good balance of ice cream to candy bits.

Dunlay's on the Square

3137 W. Logan, 773-227-2400

Remember those chocolate chip cookies your mom or perhaps grandma used to bake that you'd eat right out of the oven with a glass of milk? The giant cookie at this Lincoln Square, friendly neighborhood restaurant is the same idea, except the milk is replaced with a generous scoop of rich vanilla ice cream. Crispy on the bottom and warm and oozing velvety chocolate on the inside, this giant cookie bakes in a cast-iron skillet, gets a drizzling of caramel sauce and then goes directly to your table. You will think you have died and gone to heaven.

Fat Willy's Rib Shack

2416 W. Schubert, 773-782-1800

Nothing beats washing down a plate of barbequed ribs from with this popular North Side rib shack better than the house apple fritter dessert. Unlike traditional, bite-sized apple fritters, this treat is giant-sized and looks like a rectangular doughnut. Stuffed with apple chunks, deep-fried to a golden brown, the fritter is served with generous amounts of vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce.

Ever had banoffee pie? If you haven't, you're missing out. This pudding-pie dessert with English origins suits the menu at this recently opened "gastropub" in River North, which features many British-inspired offerings. So what's in a banoffee pie? Whipped cream mixes with a sticky custard of toffee and sliced bananas. The bananas are fresh, the crust is flaky and the custard is rich and has some coffee-flavored notes. What more could you ask for?

Grand Lux Cafe

600 N. Michigan, 312-276-2500

A story about desserts in Chicago wouldn't

be complete without cheesecake. While some say Eli's is the best cheesecake in the city,
many favor the Cheesecake Factory's delectable cakes. By choosing the Grand Lux down the street, a more upscale offshoot of the Factory, you can avoid some of the tourist crowds and bump up the ritz. Grand Lux's cheesecake selection is limited compared to its sister restaurant, but still features old favorites like the original, fresh strawberry and white chocolate raspberry truffle. Dense and rich, understated yet divine, the cakes are sure to please. For a unique treat, try the fluffy and delicious Dulce De Leche, a heavenly and lighter caramel cheesecake.

Naha

500 N. Clark, 312-321-6242

At this minimalist, modern eatery in the heart of River North, culinary experts and cousins Carrie and Michael Nahabedian touch on their Armenian roots with their creative dishes, which also have Mediterranean and contemporary American influences. Those flavors carry through to the desserts by Elizabeth Buettner, the pastry chef. Look for savory ingredients mixed with the sweet, such as the unique Manjari chocolate sandwich made with Pinot Noir poached pears, thyme and olive oil ice cream. Don't pass up the rich goat's milk cheesecake with grape gelee, roasted walnut ice cream and shredded, caramelized filo dough, similar to baklava. The panna cotta is heavenly on its own, but also comes with hazelnut ice cream, milk chocolate crunch and candied orange caramel. Although the types of desserts stay the same, many of the ingredients change seasonally, so there's always a reason to stop in.

Chocolate Bar at the Peninsula

Easy Chocolate Dessert Recipe

Chocolate is one of the oldest processed foods enjoyed over the past millennium. It came from the tropical tree called cocoa. This tree is native to South America, Central America and Mexico. There are different kinds of chocolate. Each is classified according to its composition and color. Milk chocolate is the combination of sugar, cocoa butter and milk. It is considered not a true chocolate because of the absence of cocoa solids formed from the processes involved in production of pure chocolate. White chocolate can be consumed by animals. Quick And Easy Gluten-Free Holiday Homemade Desserts

Your holiday guests will be most welcome in your home, and you'll feel pleased to be their host - until you remember that their habits, preferences, and needs might not match your own. Then anxiety might overtake your excitement and undermine your confidence in your ability to host the perfect get-together. For example, mealtimes can be a challenge, particularly when so many people have eliminated specific foods from their diets (meat, refined sugar, salt, and the like). So plan in advance. Decide what you will prepare for dessert if one of your guests is on a gluten-free diet.

It's not as easy to satisfy the eater's sweet tooth as you might think even for the most experienced cooks. Gluten-free foods can be difficult to come by, and time-consuming to find or to make. Of course, if you're on a gluten-free diet, you've probably already searched for an easy fix when the urge for a quick, homemade single-serving snack hits. And you already know that "delicious," "gluten-free," and "homemade" typically are not words that fit into the same sentence.

Desserts Food

Now imagine you can create a single serving of fresh-from-the-microwave-oven molasses pudding cake, a corn muffin, gingerbread, or pumpkin cheesecake. And imagine you can bake these gluten-free desserts in your microwave oven in a microwave-safe mug, and the only items you'll need to prepare them (besides the ingredients) are a small mixing bowl, a couple of measuring spoons, and a spoon to mix the batter. Imagine that each recipe works every time and that anyone - including a child (with adult supervision) - can easily and successfully prepare a gluten-free microwave mug cake in less than ten minutes.

Now envision each of your guests enjoying his or her choice of 101 microwave mug cakes, secure in the knowledge that each of the microwave mug cakes contain no gluten - and some of them contain no added sugar, no eggs, no dairy, and/or no added oil. And imagine that, instead of worrying about what to serve all of your guests for dessert, you have the solution on hand anytime you need it.

Your guests need not be on gluten free diets to appreciate the homemade treats. All of your holiday guests can enjoy delicious holiday treats almost as quickly as they can select a recipe.

You'll enjoy creating microwave mug cakes as much as your guests - whatever their dietary constraints - will appreciate eating them. Cleanup will be a breeze. The most difficult challenge you'll face will be waiting until your guests leave to prepare yourself a single-serving microwave mug cake as a reward for demonstrating respect and consideration for everyone's dietary needs -- and helping everyone feel cared about and nurtured this holiday season. You won't want to share your own gluten-free microwave mug cakes with anyone else when the opportunity to treat yourself to your favorite gluten-free microwave mug cake arises!

Filipino Recipes - Suman Moron (Dessert) Recipe - Pinoy Food

Suman Moron originated from Leyte, an island in the Visayas. It is a popular Filipino dessert served during fiestas and other special occasions. Luckily, I don't have to wait for any special celebrations to taste this delicacy because these are commonly sold outside the church during Sundays.

This recipe makes about 30 pieces of Suman Moron 4-inches long each.

Ingredients:

2 cups glutinous rice flour
6 cups ordinary rice flour
2 kilos grated coconut meat
1 big can evaporated milk
½ kilo white (refined) granulated sugar
1 kilo muscovado sugar
30 chocolate tableya, melted with 1/4 cup water
1 bar cheddar cheese (julienned)
1 cup chopped peanuts
1 small bottle vanilla extract
8 cups boiling water
about 30 pieces banana leaves, cut into rectangles (8″x10″)

Cooking Instructions:

In a basin, place the grated coconut meat and pour boiling water. Set aside. (Note: 8 cups of canned coconut milk can be used as alternative.)
Mix the 2 types of flour well until thoroughly incorporated. Divide the flour mixture equally into two parts.
Squeeze the grated meat when the coconut mixture is already cool enough to handle. Use a fine strainer to separate the coconut milk. Divide the coconut milk equally into two parts.
In a thick-bottomed pan, place ½ of the flour mixture and pour in one part coconut milk, muscovado sugar, melted chocolate, vanilla extract and peanuts. Mix well and place over medium heat. Keep on stirring while cooking the mixture. At first, uneven lumps will form. But as you keep stirring, the mixture will even out as it thickens. Turn off the heat when oil starts to come out. Set aside to cool.
To the second half of flour mixture, add the remaining coconut milk. Then pour about half of the white sugar and the evaporated milk. Mix thoroughly. Place in a separate pan and cook over medium heat while stirring continuously. Remove from the heat when the mixture is thickened. Set aside to cool.
Pass the banana leaves over the heat to make them supple. Then use the squeezed-dry coconut meat over the leaves.
Take a heaping tablespoonful of the first mixture (chocolate) and place on the banana leaf wrapper. Sprinkle a little cheese on it before rolling, with the banana leaf covering the mixture. Therefore, you hands won't be touching the mixture being rolled.
Take another heaping tablespoonful of the second mixture (milk) and do the same process.
Place the two cylinders (milk and chocolate) and roll to form a thicker cylinder with the two colors fused together.
Roll the banana leaf to wrap tightly and tie a string at both ends to secure.
Repeat the process until all of the two mixtures have been wrapped.
Steam for about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Let cool before serving.
