Low Sugar Desserts

Being a diabetic and a lover of sweets can be quite difficult. If you are a diabetic, then you know about managing your diabetes with low sugar and carbohydrate foods. Well, in order to combat this problem, I will list a few low sugar desserts that I eat myself.

Always remember to consult your doctor before trying any new desserts or any foods for that matter in order to confirm that it will work with your diabetes. First of all, many ice cream companies have substituted some of their products with splenda, making them sugar free and low in carbohydrates. These low sugar desserts are great tasting, maybe even as good as the real thing. The key to controlling diabetes and having diabetic desserts is to eat in moderation. If you are a diabetic, then you are probably well aware of this idea. So when I do occasionally treat myself to a diabetic dessert, I always eat small portions. Other great tasting, low sugar desserts include sugar free chocolate.

Many chocolate companies, including some of the big name companies, have made their products in a sugar free form. This is great because now there is a sugar free dessert to have on the holidays. Another product that works with my diabetes is cool whip. Next time you are in a grocery store, check out the nutritional facts on cool whip. If I am correct, you will be surprised at how little sugar and carbs that it has. THis is great for me because cool whip tastes great.
